With profound sadness, we extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Ryan Eiler, as shared by the Minnesota State Patrol on the evening of Sunday, April 26. His loss is deeply felt across the Shakopee community and beyond.
Ryan Eiler joined Shakopee Public Schools in 2021 as a dedicated Health and Physical Education teacher at the High School – Academies of Shakopee. In his role, he inspired students to value wellness, teamwork, and perseverance, leaving a meaningful and lasting impact on those he taught. In March 2025, he further demonstrated his commitment to students by serving as an Assistant Coach for the boys sprint team, where he mentored young athletes with encouragement, discipline, and care.
Beyond his work in education, Ryan honorably served as a member of the Army National Guard, reflecting his deep sense of duty, service, and integrity. He was also a proud graduate of the University of St. Thomas and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, achievements that underscored his dedication to personal and professional growth.
Ryan will be remembered not only for his professional contributions, but also for his character, kindness, and unwavering commitment to others. He touched the lives of students, colleagues, athletes, and fellow service members in ways that will not be forgotten.
During this difficult time, support services are being made available at the high school for students, staff, and families, including counseling and resources through the District Crisis & Safety Committee.
We extend our deepest sympathies to Ryan Eiler’s family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort, and may his legacy continue to inspire strength, compassion, and community.
